1. First, some really good advice to shop attendants
Please don't ask if you can help me. I know you mean well but if I needed help I would holler, I would seek eye contact, I would look helpless. When I'm shopping for sneakers I need to be very focused. And please don't ask me if I am looking for something in particular. I don't know what I'm looking for until I see it. Then I'll know and I will tell you.

Best places in the world to shop for sneakers

Tokyo
Mekka for shopaholics no matter what you want to buy and sneakers are no exception. Also the Japanese are very demanding shoppers and they have extremely good taste in sneakers. So they have everything, it's often cheaper than Europe and you can bet they will have every model in every available color that we in the west might see in catalogues but never in the shop. They also have a huge selection in second hand rarities but be prepared to pay top yen!

Hong Kong
They have everything here. They have streets in Hong Kong with hundreds of shoe shops, there is a street nick named Sneaker Street. I'm not kidding. It's paradise. But don't expect to make a bargain, except on last year's models.

Seoul
They make them around here and it's cheap but shops are harder to find than in HK.

London
Is a lot better than it used to be. Some stores, for example the excellent J.D. Sports on Oxford Street, have a much better selection than a lot of NY outlets.

Nairobi
Hard Core Old School afficionados will find what they're looking for in Nairobi's second hand-stalls.

Worst place in the world to shop for sneakers?
Stockholm
I live here. I know. It's been getting better though. For instance, check out SneakersnStuff at Åsögatan 136.
