![]() Kinyatta Raheem Ali from South Central Los Angeles, CA, looks forward to being sponsored by Nike when he makes it in music. Your first sneakers? My first pair that I picked out myself was basic Nikes, I think it was the Air Force Low. My mom bought them for me. She said I could have them if I was good in school. so I was! Before that it was typical kid's sneakers like world cup-shoes, Godzilla shoes, Transformer shoes, you know? I felt really good about my first Nikes. I love putting on new shoes, you feel good, it's a whole new feel. Where do you shop for sneakers? Beverly Center, Sportsmart. And Inglewood Sports for all the shoes you can't find anywhere else. I don't go to swap meets - I really don't trust swapmeet shoes. Your best sneaker story? Is yet to come I hope. If I make it in music I hope to be sponsored, by Nike of course. That's my big goal. Ever since my first pair, I never went back. They last longer, are more comfortable. I tried Reebok and Adidas but I can't feel nothing but Nike. Why are sneakers important? I think they tell a lot about a person, about me at least. In LA you can tell a lot about people by looking at their shoes. Like the Mexican gangster here will wear Nike Cortez but the black gangsters have Chuck Taylors. If you're a Blood you wear red Chuck T:s, if you're a Crip you wear Blue. With fat laces. Some may wear Converse All Stars with blue stripes or something, but it's mainly the Chuck T:s. It's not like every person in Chuck Taylors is a gangster but if you see someone in, say, a blue LA Dodgers hat and blue Chucks, you know he has to be banging. But if you're casusal, in old Levi's and a t-shirt, it's different. ![]() Raheem's looking forward to these - Air Team Dime. Top sneaker of all time My top sneaker of all time is the Air Jordan IV, the white ones. I probably had all the Jordans ever made, they're the best for basketball. I tried playing in Adidas but they were to heavy -- like bricks. With Nike, if I make a sharp cut, they won't give up on me. They are good for my ankles too. Sneakers you are most looking forward to?The Air Team Dime, in red. How do you clean your sneaks? Toothbrush, soap and water. I try to clean them everyday after I wear them. I alwats try to keep them clean throughout the day though, ever since I was small. I used to wear them and take them off when I got home, before I went out to play. But living in a city, it's hard, period. That's the worst thing that can happen, you have a brand new pair of shoes that you kept clean all day and then people step on them, like at school or in a club or something.
