![]() Nartano Lim from Seattle, Washington, has his japanese 98's on, but they reflect so much that you won't be able to make them out. Your first sneakers? I don't fully remember the name, it had something to do with a kangaroo and the gimmick was that it had some kind of pocket that you could stick something into. E-mail me if you are familiar with this cause it is boggling me right now. They were blue and has some velcro straps that were all the rage in the 80's growing up. I just remember that when my parents house got robbed the kangaroo sneaks got jacked along with. Dang. I would really like to sport those right nows. Where do you shop for sneakers? Usually I know what sneaker I want before I go after them. I rarely go into a shop and fall for a sneak I have never seen. The last few sneaks have been tracked down via internet tips and phone calls. So I got the 95 sc's from a call to the New York Niketown because the west coast had sold out. My Japanese color 98's were gotten at the Nike town outlet here in the Seattle Area. I am currently looking for a pair of Japanese color New Blance 565's that they won't sell me here in America. If anyone has access to these I would really appreciate it. ![]() Run DMC's favourites are among Lim's 20+ collection. How many do you have? 20+: airmax 93-limited edition sand/purple,95-sc re-issue neon green/gray,97-blue/yellow,98-japanese black/neon green; Jordan 6; air huarache trainer and basketball; twilight zone Reebok pumps; vans; adidas shells; nike trainers-89's; air windrunner 2's; nike Bo-jackson trainers-original neon greens; plus 10 more assorted kicks of no interest Your best sneaker story? When I first got the Bo jackson trainers is when I started to really get into sneaks. It was the first time I had a shoe, let alone a sneaker, over a hundred dollars. I was the hit of my sixth grade class and first felt the joy and others envy of owning a really great and exclusive pair of sneaks. Similarly, I was the first at my school with the Reebok Pumps, top of the line Twilight Zones, right after they came out and I had to stalk a pair down finally finding some size 8's at a sears for $140!! I still can't believe my mom shelled that much for a growing pair of feet!! Needless to say, I was the toast of my school. No one knew how uncomfortable those damn pumps were after I had begged for so long for them. Why are sneakers important? As an Industrial design major the importance of design in the consumer arena is readily apparent. An item that must combine form and function on such an almost equal balance is important in concept alone. Like a car, you buy sneaks for the aesthetics and price, but you appreciate the quality and functionality in the long run. Also sneakers are often on the cutting edge of technology in a realm where it is not really expected. We could all still wear Converse, but with advances in synthetic fibers, cushioning technology, carbon fiber (AJ 12), reflective materials and impact absorbtion at least the choices are much richer than our descendants. ![]() Air Max 95, one of Lim's favourite sneakers Top sneaker of all time I loves me some Air max95 in neon green and gray, but the old stand-by favorite, the one that will be mine after the re-issue, is the Air Jordan 5 in black with that fatty reflective tongue. Ohmygosh, those are Phat!! Got the AJ6 after that, but nothing will compare to one of the first reflective shoes on the market. With a toggle?!?! Damn, those are good shoes. Very balanced in shape and design and very simple. No patent leather needed. The clear soles where the bomb when they were new and not yellowed and that nubuck suede stuff is really the only thing that nike should make shoes out of. It looks good on the 95's too. Sneakers you are most looking forward to? The next scheduled Air Max major redesign is 2001 so I guess that is my next BIG shoe. I am always looking forward to a new pair of jordans coming out. I would have to say, that my most awaited shoe would be the re-issue of Jordan 5 with reflective tongue in black with no stupid numbers on the side and then a re-issue of Air Max 92 in blue and black with the long toe and the cool back strap thingie. How do you clean your sneaks? Using a wet, soapy cloth (no paper towels, you get wet, paper boogers). Clean gently; air dry. Submit your own opinions in the worldwide sneaker report |
