![]() Somaya, originally from Sweden, lives in New York City. How do you like your sneakers? They have to look good. Clean and simple. No stupid-looking patterns. Brand names aren't important to me at all, although Nike and Adidas usually do have the best-looking sneakers. But would you really wear any brand as long as they look good? Sure, I used to do it all the time when I lived in Sweden! It all depends on how you carry yourself, you don't have to be rich to have style! Like all those fake-ass people who buy the most expensive clothes from Tommy Hilfiger, DKNY, Nike but they don't know jack-shit about hip-hop. I used to buy these no-name fake-sneakers at B&W (Swedish equivalent to K-Mart), my friends used to tell me that I was the only person in the world who could make fake sneakers look good! Hey, I was poor and they only cost like 130 kronor (20 dollars). I don't think I'd wear them in NYC though, people are such snobs here, they'd dis me straight off. Most girls in NYC wear some ugly sneakers though. Actually most of them don't even wear them cause it aint feminine enough. But if they do they pick them in colors like red, gold and silver . Do you remember your first sneakers? Actually, it's funny, my first sneakers were a fake-brand called "Bronx". I was a kid and into hip-hop (I gotta admit I was what we in Sweden called "kickers", what others might call wanna-be gangsters!!) And to me those sneakers seemed cool because the Bronx was in New York, you know? ![]() I want those bubbles! What do you wear right now? I would love to buy a pair of Nike Air Max, I like those air bubbles. But they are SO expensive, I have settled for a pair of green Adidas, I really like Adidas, their sneakers are simple and look good and they are less expensive. Do you clean your sneakers every day. Of course. I can't stand dirty old sneakers. You gotta keep them clean and with all the idios walking all over them, old ladies in the subway, kids on the street, in clubs... You have to get that stuff of right away. I use a nail brush and soap and soak my laces in chlorine. Some spots are hard to get out though, and scratches on the soles are the worst b/c once dirt gets in there it's impossible to get them really clean. Where do you buy your sneakers? As you may already have realized, I am kind of cheap so I get my sneakers in Harlem or Brooklyn because it costs less than in the City. Submit your own opinions in the worldwide sneaker report |
