They're extremely good-looking, simple and stylish. The Adidas models that came after it were too contrived but the Shell-Toe original came only in white with black stripes. They look brilliant with fat laces. I bought my first pair in -86, at a hip-hop-jam in Copenhagen. Do you prefer fat laces? Definitely! Because they look incredibly cool. To wear them pure hip hop style is very impractical. If you only tie them 3-4 times it's like walking around in slippers but you look great. Like a cartoon. Like a Rock Steady Crew album cover. Laces have to match the sneaker. You can't wear yellow or blue laces with black'n'white shoes. What do cool people wear around where you live? The cool sneakers right now, where I live, are Fila and Adidas because they look good. I like my sneakers very big, like ski-boots. And it seems like now sneakers are getting bigger and bigger but they have a simpler, purer shape. I also like the way they're using the logos in different and innovative ways. What sneakers do uncool people wear around where you live? I don't really pay attention to that but I hate it when people wear running shoes like Avia with street clothes. How many pairs of sneakers do you have? I have eight that I use right now. And I don't throw away my old sneakers anymore. I put them in the attic because I really regret throwing away my sneakers from the old days. It makes me mad to think about it. Do you prefer old school to new school? The really old stuff is very uncomfortable. I like it when new models have an old school-inspired design but a hi-tech feel. Where in the world do they have the best choice in sneakers? London. They have stuff from all over, not like in the States where it's hard to get anything except American brands. How do you feel about designer sneakers? I've yet to see a pair that I like.
