Andrew Bottomley from Burlington, VT, had a scary experience with a pair of Ewings.

Your first sneakers?
My first sneaker was an amazing pair of Roos, the ones with the small zip pocket on the side. I remember when I first wore them to school, I was like 6 years old. I thought I was the bomb, and I honestly believed that these sneakers made me run faster.

Where do you shop for sneakers?
Athletes Foot, Footlocker, Bob's stores, and numerous skate shops.

Your best sneaker story?
This isn't a story so much as it is a ritual. Any time my brother or I purchase a new pair of sneakers, we reserve a space in our lives for what we call the drueling period. This is norm ally within an hour of when we buy the shoes. This drueling period entails a close study of the new item, looking for all the little extras you get with modern sneakers. It normally lasts around 20 minutes and takes place in the car on the ride home from the store. Sneakers are my life and this drueling period simply emphasizes my devotion to footwear, especially sneakers.

Why are sneakers important?
Because they are so comfortable. I used to have to wear dress shoes to school, and they sucked, my feet would get so sore. Sneakers are also very individual. They reflect your personality in a way no other item of clothing can.

How many?
8 pairs

A Van's man.

Top sneaker of all time
My top sneaker of all time is probably the pair of Vans I owned when I was 16. They were the most comfortable peice of footwear I have ever worn. They had this ability to mold to my foot perfectly. The material was extremely soft, and they felt like I was walking on air. THEY WERE THE BEST MAN!

Sneakers you are most looking forward to?
I am looking forward to going back to the old school, and buying a pair of Vans, like the ones I used to own

How do you clean your sneaks?
I don't... Actually I tell a lie. I once cleaned a pair of my running sneakers after a really muddy race... I put them in the washing machine.

Last comment?
I thought it wouldn't be right if I didn't tell you my worst experience with a pair of sneakers. It occured when I was only 14. I saw these Ewings in Footlocker. At the time I thought they were the greatest things i had ever seen. Any way my mom bought them for me, and I wore them all of about 4 times. Once was on a date with some chick. I felt like such a tool. I kept ripping over and shit. It was the worst time of my life, and I never went out with the girl again. These shoes were the ugliest things to. They were extreme high tops that came up to my knee almost ( exaggeration). They were blue suede with a huge grey velcro strap on them. I hated them after like two days, never again will I be so stupid.
